The Shark and the Mermaid (July 23rd, 2008)

I’m a horrible blogger, I installed this and then never update it. I do use it to make my trade post easier.

So after I fixed my computer and decided to buy myself a wireless keyboard and mouse.   That was two weeks ago and my keyboard is already not working.  Stupidly I sent a message to their tech support and I haven’t heard back yet, shocking I know.  So I get to return it to the store tomorrow which I’m looking forward to since the customer service deack is often backed up, I should know I work in the store and offten get stuck over there.

I’m working on teaching myself PHP so i can write my own tcg script, since I hate tcg admin but want something to make updating easier or maybe to eliminate the need for trade posts in my games.  The way it works in my head is that there are games and in the games the prize cards are clickable to added it to your trade post you just click the card and the script fills out your log automatically.

So Avatar: The Last Airbender finally ended last week, I was alittle disapointed in the finale.  Aang’s taking away Ozai’s bending instead of killing him, an ability that had not been mentioned in the show at all, was a cop out.  I understand that since Aang is a monk he didn’t like the idea of killing, but Ozai diserved to die.  I wasn’t surprised by Mai or Ty Lee turning good, I’ve fgured they would since the beginning.  Also Zuko becoming firelord wasn’t a surprise.  One thing that has been bugging me since the new episodes started showing.  What happened to Sokka’s messanger hawk Hawky?  I’m looking forward to the box set coming out for book three that way I can rewatch the episodes and maybe find out what happened to Hawky.

Computer (May 21st, 2008)

My Computer is down and our internet is acting up i will update everything as soon as i can.

Are you kidding me? (May 11th, 2008)

For some reason I never changed my starting page away from snootysims even though I’ve abandoned the game and have no interest in picking it up again.

Anyway when I signed onto the internet I actually took the time to look at the snootysims site, I won’t lie I was interested in Sims3, and what should I see but a post about EA screwing over their fans again.

“The last few days, a wave of unrest went through the Sims community regarding the new Securom that is planned in every future EA game. This new ’security’ was going to make you validate the game every 10 days. Unable to do so, will make the game unplayable. Spore is one of the first games to implement this new Securom and Spore fans were enraged. There is even a forum made for this: Securom must be Destroyed.”

Later on it was edited to say that they weren’t going to use it for spore, but why would they even consider using it in the first place? Yeah I know people are pirating the sims games and ea has every right to protect their games even if they are the cause of the surge in piracy. Making people validate a game they just payed $30, give or take that’s what wal-mart charges for them at least, every 10 days for they can’t play it any more is ridiculous.

I’m looking at this as someone who’s internet is unreliable, thank you verizon online, and I would be pissed if I spent 30 and could only play for 10 days because my internet decided to break and not let me validate it again. Another thing is not everyone has internet or internet access so they would only get to play for 10 days as well.

Out of curiosity I checked out the securom must be destroyed site and I saw a thread about ea backing down from the 10 day thing so I decided to read the thread and what should I find but the following.

“Q: If the game isn’t going to require an authentication every 10 days, will it ever require re-authentication?
A: Only if the player chooses to download new game content.”

Now looking at this from the eyes of a simmer that’s even worse then the 10 days. Downloading objects for your game is a huge part of the sims franchise, and since every article I’ve read about the sims3 makes it look like the only custom content allowed for the game will be released on ea’s site. Most simmers download new things for their games everyday so going what the quote above says they would then have to validate their game everyday. Yeah smart move EA they are going to love doing that! It would also affect the patches I don’t really care about that since I can live without the patches since they break more then they fix, at least in the sims2 they do.

I wonder if they include this securom how many units the sims3 will sell? I’ve already seen countless people say they quit buying the games after seasons because they didn’t want the securom. I myself gave up on the games after securom crashed my computer and I saw on the bbs that ea were saying that securom won’t cause things like that to happen. Yeah sure it didn’t cause it, even though the only thing I had on my computer besides the securom infected game was psp9.

Thanks EA for killing a fun game and not giving a damn about the people buying said game
